review of rocky mountain slides

alright, so i am just getting into slides really... my dad got me a moonshine slide when i was younger but i played with it for like a day and wasnt really into it... recently though i am really enjoying playing slide.. i have been going back and learning all the slide parts to some of my favorite jams like stp interstate love song, that one song from the crow, skynyrd's freebird... jazz like that, as well as experimenting with some open tuning. I feel like the best way to learn is just to dive in, and thats what ive been doing. anyways, i got two slides from RMS and i must say, they are pretty great. they are handmade from colorado clay and look like something i would have made in my 12th grade pottery class in high school (although i couldnt have made professional grade slides, but you get the point). They are handmade and glazed with different materials to give them different sounds... i have a shavano middy hellhound red for acoustic, and a middy beauty and the beast bayou blue for electric... the only thing i can compare these slides to is the ones i already have, which is a dunlop steel and a dunlop glass... im going to compare the RMS as once because they sound very similar. the RMS is sort of a perfect combination between the two that i arleady have... it has the nice weight of the steel, but the feel of the glass... RMS gives me rad sustain, even on acoustic and it is super comfortable to play. the tonal difference is something i cant really explain, but to me, they just sound more even and warmer. the over tones are there, but not in an annoying "im horrible at slide" kinda way... to sum it up, they are they best slides i have played.... they are a bit more expensive than the dunlops, which you can get for like 5 bucks, but if you really want to get involved in this technique, it is well worth the few extra bucks to get a better sounding, and feeling model. i have no complaints at all... check them out at rockymountainslides.com. later dudes.

Since playing a little slide on our latest studio effort, i have really gotten into the idea of slide guitar and have been playing slide every day... i recently ordered some slides from rocky mountain slide company (rockymountainslides.com) and i am anxiously awaiting their arrival. stay tuned for my review.

Nike Skate is about to release a horror film line of shoes that look pretty amazing. included in this series is a nightmare on elm street shoe. I dont know if many people know this about me, but i am big fan of horror movies and this franchise has always been among my favorite for sure. I think the shoes are coming out in october or november or something like that, not soon enough if you ask me. if anyone wants to know what i want for halloween, this is it! wait, do people get gifts for halloween? okay, thanksgiving, whatever...

Pearl Jam have begun work on early demos for their ninth studio album — which will be their first with producer Brendan O’Brien since 1998’s Yield, according to guitarist Mike McCready. “It’s really in its infant stages right now,” McCready tells Rolling Stone. “We have about five ideas that have been worked on.” The band, whose last album was 2006’s well-received Pearl Jam, isn’t sure yet about the direction of the new release. “Brendan is another set of ears that we respect, and he’s going to give us a different way to go but I don’t know what that is yet,” McCready says. The band has already had one session with O’Brien, and will probably resume work on the album in July after finishing their June U.S. tour.

I would encourage you to always check your statement involving your cell phone... i got over billed 210 dollars this month and i almost paid it, then i decided to call and the representative told me that it was correct and i was mistaken... i asked to talk to his supervisor and then after 20 min on hold i got hung up on... then i called back and i got a nice lady that realized the mistake and fixed it in about 20 seconds. anyways... all that to say you should always check your bill... peace.

Hello all... Just dropping a blog today. Liam and i had our first outing alone... we spent an hour at the grocery store. we survived. I got a cd in the mail the other day that i played guitar and banjo on a while back. Dudes name is josh wilson and he is on sparrow records. The cd is pretty cool if you are into his style of music, the guitar on there is phenomenal. kidding. anyways, check it out if you have a minute or two, its called "trying to fit the ocean in a cup."

not much else going on right now, other than finishing up some recording (and by that i mean matt is finishing up some vocals), but the end product that i have heard is to my liking. it will be a good day when it is complete. I have also started writing for an idea i have for a cd thingy that i am interested in doing... i hope this isnt just one of those come and go things i usually do because i really want to get some stuff down that i have been thinking about for a long time, and i have gotten some sweet gear lately to use during this process... some PRS and baden guitars, as well as some nice tube peavey amps. yeah. alright. take it easy.

well, i talked to my sister this morning and she said she was tired of looking at my blog about kings quest, so i thought i would blog today. I dont have much to talk about, thats why i havent been blogging very much lately... i guess i could tell you things that are boring about my day that arent funny or clever... i guess thats what blogging is, isnt it? anyways, i did find a watch on ebay that i had when i was in 7th grade... and i found one that had never been worn. only cost me 25 bucks. came in the original packaging and everything. good deal. so i got that going for me, which is nice. we are in the studio right now recording our EP that is shaping up quite nicely. i cant wait to hear these songs finished. they are shaping up nicely. i will post more later if i can muster up something to type that wont make people drool on their keyboards because they are falling asleep from my boring power blogging. alright. peace in the middle east.

Kings Quest

after a long and painful (only to john warne) journey, i have finally managed to get the classic sierra games on mac osx. its possible that you are reading this and saying, "oh jeez, thats not difficult" but it was for me... i have tried everything, even installing parallels and windows and installing remakes, but the screen size was the size of a postage stamp due to the resolution of my screen.... no good. well, with a program called scummVM i was able to install the classic os versions of such games as kings quest, police quest, space quest, and some other fun games that play full screen on my 17 inch mbp just fine. it has brought me back to when i was a kid playing these games on our tandy computer. good times. if you need me, ill be in daventry searching under rocks and in cupboards. have a good day.

Hi. How are you? Im fine thanks. Well, i wanted to let you guys know that i am proud to announce that i will now exclusively be using peavey electronics amps and wireless gear on my journeys with relient k. I have recently joined the peavey team and will be representing them with their Penta series head and 4x12 cab, as well as the JSX 2x12 combo and 4x12 cab. I will also be using their Pro Comm Guitar wireless system so i can dance freely without tripping myself. I am very excited about this partnership and i the people i am working with couldnt be greater. I sort of stumbled upon this relationship, but once i heard the amps, i was sold. The Penta is one of the coolest amps I have heard in a long time. It has five settings that takes you through the different gain stages of the amp. from clean all the way to that mid scooped metal. It has two settings that are very reminiscent of classic 50 watt british type amps... it has el34s and sounds really cool. The cab is ported and sounds very tight and clear. The JSX 212 is a very cool little combo. Its the size of a fender twin and has an amazing clean tone as well as killer spring verb. It has a crunch and an ultra channel that give you plenty of head room for all the tube gain you may want. Its 4x12 cab that can make it a very cool looking 6x12 rig has custom speakers and a mic output that sends a true signal that sounds just like the cab is being micd. Look for this stuff this year when we are out on warped as well as the second half of 08. hope to see you guys out there... check out the gear at www.peavey.com.

after only about 15 years of begging my father has finally bequeathed me his highschool graduation present, which is a gibson b-25 from the mid 60s. his father gave it to him, and he had it for exactly 40 years, and now my only instructions are to give it to my son in about 40 more. i hope hes not left handed, that will throw everything off. anyways, i went out today and bought a new case for it to preserve the original one, as well as to protect it a little better. i know what youre thinking, finally a blog thats about guitars and not PRS... well, if they made PRSs 40 years ago, id be talking about them too. anyways, thanks for the guitar, i have been playing it non stop. i hope i can write a cool song about a boy and a truck who lives in some state and grows up to be something special and meets someone who does something cool that makes him want to write a song about something he saw on tv the other day. amen.

hey guys, sorry its been so long since ive blogged...

i have been back to the blog a few times and reread my post about my friend lane and decided that it needed to be up there a little bit longer. i have decided its a good time to proceed with my blogging.

much has changed over the past few weeks... we hit the road again and started out with ethan luck and we have been having a blast. we already knew he was a stud on the road, but having him behind the drums just feels natural. i am glad that we were able to have him join us in this way. the shows were pretty cool, the show in PA was one of my favorites in the three plus years since ive joined this band... good time all around.

i got a nintendo wii today... we were in target buying some essentials, and i saw a wii in the store for the first time. the moment was right because lindsay was alright with the purchase! i didnt get any games, im gonna try to borrow some before i buy any, but we will see... anyways...

we did a photo shoot for PRS and if it turns out it should pop up in some guitar and music mags this year, i will keep you all posted. anyways.. til next time.

There are certain people in everyones life, where whether or not they mean to, they totally change the course of their destiny. There was one such guy that had a career changing, location changing, and life changing impact on me. When i was 18 or so, one of my best friends from high school called me out of the blue and asked me if i wanted to move to Nashville to live with him and his mom. I quickly obliged and less than a week later i moved up to tennessee to live with them. It was that phone call that opened so many doors for me... i met my wife here, ive met some of the most important people in my life here, i have an amazing job with great friends here, but it is a life that i may have never had was it not for one person who called me up one day and asked me to start a band with him... I got a sad phone call today and heard that he had passed away last night in a single car accident. I hadnt talked to him recently, but i will always remember him as one of my great friends that totally and entirely changed my life, whether he meant to or not... he was a son, a brother, a husband, and a father. too young to leave us, but his time on earth has sadly passed. Ill always remember the first time i drove up here and he welcomed me with a calzone from the pizza joint where he was working, and we immediately went to his house to set up what little music gear we had. gosh that seems like an eternity ago... love ya buddy. rest well, and ill see you again someday.

How was I supposed to know?

Well, valentines day didnt work out exactly as i had planned it to, but whos counting right? well, ill fill you in on my mishaps... I had planned to take my wife to a nice little thai restaurant for V day... one that we go to occasionally, but one that we both really like.. it is, in fact, the only thai restaurant that i like, and lindsay loves thai food, so it is a great treat to go there together.. anyways, we left the house after having discussed the menu all day... our mouths started salivating as we pulled into the lot... alright you guessed it, we were rejected at the door because we did not have reservations... then holding up a dollar bill i asked if "mr washington" had reservations, and then the lady told me to leave in more than one language... APPARENTLY there is some sort of cosmic rule that everyone is supposed to know that you sometimes have to make reservations at places that dont normally take reservations on certain days, solely at the discretion of the restaurant. how was i supposed to know this? well, consider it noted. anyway, i have an understanding wife and we ended up getting some fast food and heading back to the house to watch lost. am i proud of my shortcomings? no... but i am proud to be an american, and proud to know that i reserve my econstitutionalganic right to NOT make reservations on special occasions thereth haveth my constitutional amended forth right patriotism. amen to that....

today is a day when you are supposed to reflect on things you love. i could list a million things on here, starting with my god, my wife and going on down the list, but that would just bore you more than anything, so i wont... i will however reflect on something that i love that will not be with us much longer. my friend kenny from invisible children brought to my attention that Polaroid is closing its doors to the factory that makes its instant film and cameras. now most of you are reading this and scratching your head and saying, you mean those things from the 80s? well, yes, those things from the 80s. i am also bummed because i just got a brand new polaroid for christmas this year. i hope its one of those situations like when i heard converse was going to stop making chucks about 6 or 7 years ago, so i went and bought 4 pairs, but then i found out they got bought out and continued making them... unfortunately, polaroid film is like a dollar a picture and i am sorta broke right now, so if this is the case, then i will not be able to continue my love for instantly viewing pictures that i took... hard copies anyhow. so hats off to you polaroid for making cool stuff, i just hope someone will buy enough to make you change your mind... for all the photographers, and artists, and people who still use date books...

Long time no blog...

Hey guys, it has been a while since i have posted... Sorry about that. I hope that some of you guys still read this thing. The band has been off for a while, which has been very nice for the four of us to recharge and relax over these past several weeks. Hopefully we will have some sort of news about a fifth sooner than later. I recently got a tentative schedule for 08 and it looks like w are going to be busy and play a lot of cool shows. The only thing i can talk about right now is the warped tour, which I am really looking forward to. I feel like the last time we played it was a million years ago, so i am ready to get back to that venue and play some hot and sweaty shows at 12 o clock in the afternoon. We will see whether or not my beard agrees with that. anyways, keep an eye on our website for show postings, and info about a new little drummer boy. Hope to see all of you this year.

New Guitars..

Check out the PRS website (link on sidebar) and have a look at the new models that were revealed at the 08 NAMM in Anaheim, ca... they all look sweet and some of the ones that really sparked my interest were the new big body arch top with a bigsby and the new baritone... tune it low and play it hard, or play some sweet rockabilly low style. good times. anyways, check them out, if you are a fan of the instruments, then you wont be disappointed, and if youre new to them, they will probably leave a good taste in your mouth. alright, thats enough plugging for now. have a good 'un.

My dad got my wife and i some magazine subscriptions for Christmas this year, and one of the mags i got is called "premier guitar." (ps mag subscriptions are cool gifts to give and get if youre in a pinch for an idea) I got the first issue in the mail today and to my surprise there was PRS on the cover talking about the new Mira (see video of jon foreman and i)... Its a cool article about an even cooler guitar... pick one up and check it out.

if i would have known they had graphic novels at the library, i would have joined up years ago. thats all im going to say about that. im not sure why they had them in the kids section though...

so yesterday i joined the nashville davidson county public library, edmonson branch. it was a good time all around. you can check out 25 books at a time for free. they must hope that all of these people are honest cause a crook could make out big time in a place like this. they also have movies and cds. these items are also free to check out for anyone at anytime. if people knew about this i think that blockbuster would not be as popular as it is right now. did i mention its free? anyways, am going to go back often so that i stay up on my reading of any kind of book that i want. this blog made no sense.

'Ello blogateers. Just a post to let you know that I am still alive and kickin it. I have been very busy in the past few weeks, not leaving me too much time to blog. We finished up the year strong, we had a great last show with dave, and it was a lot of fun to be able to send him off on such a good note and a fun time. I have some fun stuff planned for the next week or so in terms of blogging, i hope that you will stick around to see. I dont want to be specific in case i dont get around to it, and then you will call me fire pants. Well, i did lose to the mighty Matt Thiessen in his freshman year of fantasy football... My strategy held strong for most of the year, but injuries and his good team kept me out of the finals... Today is quite possibly my last fantasy football game EVER!!!! I squeaked into the playoffs after having led the league for most of the season, but i face a monster with the face of an angel... matt thiessen. My ever so fickle wide outs are all on the injury list, making my chances of survival that much harder. I wish matt the best of luck in his freshman year as a fantasy player, but i remind him of a player called dan marino. early success but NEVER TO RETURN!!!!!! See you on the computer screen.

In a recent visit to my "google analytics"... I realized that i was only two states away from a phi slamma jamma with complete state visits. If you dont know what analytics is, its a site that you can visit in order to see how many people view your website. Its fun to check out every once in a while. I must say, i am 100 percent flattered that so many people take the time to elf us. if you are not familiar with what I am talking about, you can paste a picture of your face on a crazy dancing elfs body, and email it to your friends to let them know how bored you were at the time. I have gotten a few emails from fans that are not digging my new friend mister whiskers. As i have said before, i dont think that offends me or anything, but some of the emails i have received have been very "to the point." For those of you who think i look ridiculous, look at bob seger and look at how sweet he looks, then look at me again, i think you will surely change your mind. If that doesnt work... I wasnt born with a beard, and i probably wont die with a beard, so just be patient. I did get an amusing email from a girl that told me i was entirely too skinny... hmm, maybe i should start eating fast food or something, that may help. I will look into that for sure. Thanks for all the emails, even the ones that say i look funny. right now we are enjoying a break before we finish up the year and gear up for christmas. If you didnt hear, RK will be on the majority of warped tour this coming summer. This should be a lot of fun, and i am looking forward to it, and to seeing all of you guys out there. On another note, a girl presented me with a razor along with a note asking me to please shave. I wasnt sure whether to be offended or flattered. I still havent decided, but i havent shaved, and i think i will roll over the "no shave november" into december and possibly 08.

Thoughts on the day

I was startled by a text i received late tonight that Casey from hawthorne heights had passed away last night. I had the pleasure of doing a tour supporting hawthorne on the nintendo fusion tour last year. I got to know casey a little and he was always a great person to be around, always had a smile on his face, took his band serious, loved his fans, and had every nintendo DS game that was on the market. It is always a weird feeling to hear that someone you know, even if it isnt well, has passed away. It reminds us how fragile and perfect the gift of life is. I will remember Casey the way most people will probably remember him... headbanging, and screaming, jamming the guitar, with a smile on his face between songs. My prayers go out to your family, as well as your band mates and friends.

I decided to mention a few things i am thankful for this thanksgiving, and i wanted to share them with you.

-my family, they are all very special in their own way
-my country, being able to live in the US is a blessing, and for that i am thankful... being able to live amongst people who dont feel the same way i do about things, but still being able to believe whatever i want is a great thing.
-my friends... being able to play music with 4 of my best friends for a living is one of the greatest feelings in the world.
-fantasy football, i am fortunate to be able to still be in first place... please knock on any wood nearby.
-great companies like PRS guitars and their willingness to work with us.

Sometimes i wish that i was a little bit more poetic, or romantic, and i cant find the right words to say... and sometimes, it just so happens that someone i know happens to say the right thing for me. I was browsing around the web today and found a quote that gave me a smile and a tingle. Its funny how sometimes you find something so perfect when you are just wasting time.. which i do a lot of right now. anyways...

--Recently i have found that life is much more complex, oddly enough i have discovered this complexity in the simplicity of monotony. Its when our lives settle into a groove when you find out what is most important. over the past year and a half i have been watching things settle. and i am not too sure i enjoy all that is rising to the top. but that is why i try to stay as close to the Lord as possible. when these things rise to the top, he can reach down and take them out. staying close to the lord is not easy, but i guess thats how refining feels and does to you. and i am pleased to say that through all my struggles and failures that i love the lord more today than i ever have in my whole life. i thank the lord every day for his grace, and i am thankful that it is not missing.--

I dont consider what i do to my animals abuse, but some, including my dogs, may think otherwise. We enjoyed this halloween and i was fortunate to get to swing through nashville for long enough to see my wife and be a little festive. If you didnt know already, the tour that we are currently on is called the "appetite for constrution" tour. I think thats french... We teamed up with with habitat for humanity for this tour, and a buck from everyones ticket goes straight to the organization. its pretty awesome. Today in Baton rouge we got to go out to a habitat house and work! it was pretty cool. we were installing hardy plank, which is basically like concrete siding for houses... its more durable than vinyl and holds up better than wood. let me tell you, we are pros. we only had to take down a few boards that we put up wrong, and by the end of the day, we had almost a whole side done... i know we werent super efficient, but we did our best, and got to use some sweet power tools. if youre not familar with the organization, you should check out the haps. its awesome.

We have been known to pull a kid or two on stage to play a song with us during our set, and last night, in dallas we picked a dude named dillon. matt thought he said tilly and called him that for like 5 min. it was pretty great. to make a boring story short, i saw him after the show, he gave me his bands demo, and we all listened to it. it was pretty cool.. i thought i would give them a plug on the old blogaroo.

upon waking in eau claire wisconsin for our cold and dreary day off, i noticed our hotel had a "game room." im not sure if this is listed as one of the amenities of the place, but i hope that no one brings there kids here simply for this "arcade." all the way from the bus, i noticed what is the second most recognizable symbol in all of the world, (of course the first being the superman S) the ghostbusters no ghost symbol... I immediately pictured in my head cashing in dollars for quarters and playing as egon until my cash well went dry. i was excited to say the least. upon further investigation of this arcade game, i realized that the once heavenly ghostbusters arcade game had been stripped of its ghostbusting guts and fitted with the lone rollerball from games such as golden tee. Now ive heard of some surgerys gone wrong, but having this priceless piece of the 80s gouged and transformed into a golden tee would have been a catastrophe. upon FURTHER investgation, i realized that this game was NOT turned into a golden tee, not a bowling game, not a deer hunter, or any other respectable bar side treat... but it was turned into a "shuffle Shot." i know, i am thinking the same thing... what is shuffle shot? well, it turns out it is some form of the senior citizen game shuffle board, only way lamer. my awesome day was shuffle shot down. the bright side is, i walked across the street to the mall and picked up eric powells action 866... i hate buying comics from waldenbooks, but you gotta do what you gotta do.... and i still have some cash to spare. Monday night football at applebees, here i come!

We have made it through the first week of the tour... we had a handful of awesome shows, and it has been rad getting to know and or reacquainted with everyone out here. i promise i will start blogging more come second week... After seven years of touring, recording, and rehearsing, Dave Douglas has decided to leave Relient K. His final show will be 12/29. As a part of Relient K, he has been an amazing drummer, singer, collaborator, and friend. Before Dave joined the band, we were plagued with drummer turnover. Although he was the fifth drummer in two years, the moment he joined was the first time we ever felt like a complete band. He will be missed on the stage and on the road, and we wish him all the best.

I know that there have been some rumors and speculation about my future in Relient K. I suppose I should clear that up. The time has, in fact, come for me to leave the band. This has been a very difficult decision, but I know that this is the right one. Relient K has been a huge part of my life and I'm sure that it is going to take a long time to get used to not being a part of the band any more. I've had a lot of good times, met a lot of great people, and been able to go a lot of places. it's been a blessing and a pleasure to work with Matt, Matt, John, and Jon. Also, I want to thank everyone else who has been involved with the band, especially those who have been on the road with us. Our fans are amazing and I want to thank all of you for your support and enthusiasm.

I am moving on to new music projects, and I hope that I will still have all of your support. Come the first of the year I will be devoting most of my time to Gypsy Parade . Feel free to look us up and say hi. Until then I will playing with Relient K, so I've got a few more shows left in me. I suppose that this is my "farewell tour." hopefully I, and the rest of Relient K, will see you at one of them.

hey guys.. i havent really posted anything since the tour started... i think its because i am getting into my "first week of tour" routine where i have to adjust my natural clock from waking up at 8 to waking up at 2... its just how it goes im afraid. i dont intend to stay up until 4 am every night, but it just happens that way... also, with the purchase of a wii, a football, and a dart board, there has been plenty of things to keep us occupied when we arent soundchecking our playing. I went to a show last night in the ville known as nash to see an old friends band play. I used to be in a band long ago with the front dude of this act, as well as a roommate for a while... Its always good to see old friends and see the art they are producing . I had no idea what to expect from the group, other than a three song EP i had, but i was really impressed... The band was really tight and the songs had great melodies... If you see them coming through your town, you should check them out.

Started off the new Fantasy Football season 3-0. Matt T was our newest edition in the league, and he is doing quite well... our league consists of musicians, ex musicians, merch guys, sound guys, and well, a few other dudes. My mom always told me it was good to be specific. anyways, wish me luck as i head into wk 4 facing the #1 ranked player.

I was reading my friends blog the other day, and she had a 100 things you might not know about me list. For some reason i read the enitre thing, and then decided to do my own. i found hers very interesting, hopefully you will do the same for mine.

enjoy, or dont...

1. I used to have a ventriloquist doll named lester, he was black and wore a plaid vest. I got it from the sears catalog.
2. I am afraid of growing old.
3. I still don’t know what I want to do with my life.
4. I ordered magic tricks from an infomercial, and practiced them diligently.
5. I played little league baseball.
6. My dad was my little league coach one year.
7. I called miss cleo the Jamaican psychic one time.
8. I look on ebay every single day.
9. I spend more time reading comics than I do reading the bible.
10. My first real job in the music business was a roadie on Jessica simpsons first tour.
11. I want a motorcycle.
12. I used to get grossed out by olives, but now I cant get enough of them.
13. San fransicso is my favorite city in the western half of the US.
14. New york is my favorite city in the eastern half of the US.
15. I used to surf. My surfboard is currently in my attic in my landlocked state.
16. I used to be way in to fishing. I would go every day.
17. The things I miss most about florida are the bodies of water.
18. My gandfather died in my house when I was in high school. He was on hospice care.

69. I recently started looking for old friends online. I have found several and reconnected. Its fun.

71. I hate the saxophone, for the most part. That doesn’t mean I hate you, if you play one.
72. I know all the words from several 80s movies, including bttf, and ghostbusters.
73. My sister and I used to watch the mickey mouse club when Brittney and Justin and Christina were on there.
74. We also went to see them tape the show live. It was a Disney.
75. I often regret major purchases, soon after I buy them.
76. I wish I would have never stopped taking piano lessons. I will probably be the sort of parent who makes their kid do that sort of thing.
77. I don’t like to sweat.
78. I played high school tennis.
79. I think bryan adams has an amazing voice. I also think Michael Bolton has an amazing voice.
80. I say something at least once a day to get the response is, “are you serious?”
81. I am in fact, serious.
82. Mcdonalds has long been my favorite restaurant. Chic fil a is a close second, followed by captain ds. Yes, all that is true.
83. I enjoy eating inside fast food joints by myself.
84. My car doesn’t have a radio, and its where I do some of my best reflecting.
85. I go back and forth on whether or not I enjoy watching baseball.
86. I fall asleep to the golf channel every single night.
87. I can type 75 words per minute.
88. My two dream cars are a 1960s ford bronco, baby blue with a white top, and a delorean. I joke that if I was single I would have them both. Its not a joke.
89. I think its better to invest money in things that you can sell for a profit, rather than sticking It in the bank. The only investment I have ever lost money on, are mutual funds.
90. My first bi racial crush was lisa bonet from the cosby show.
91. I am not against plastic surgery.
92. I want to start and online comic, but haven’t gotten around to it.
93. I have never owned a new car.
94. I have however owned a new house.
95. I am doing, professionally, exactly what I want to be doing right now. I have wanted to be a musician since I was 10.
96. I play paul reed smith guitars, and I love them.
97. I got in a car wreck when I was 14… the car burned up and I was in a wheel chair for 8 weeks. I recovered.
98. My favorite golfer is tiger woods and I like it when he wins by a landslide.
99. I don’t play guitar as much as I would like to.
100. I wish I was more disciplined.

Review of Superman Doomsday

First, ill give my non spoiler review. I loved it.

Okay, and now for my review, may contain spoilers.
First of all, ill start out by saying that that 75 is my all time favorite issue and the comic that pulled me to DC over from marvel. with that being said, I was really anxious to see how they were going to adapt the screen play. I knew that they were not going to do the full on death and return with the four imposters, and the funeral for a friend story, because there just wasnt enough time for them to pull that off, so i couldnt wait to see what the plot was going to be. The movie starts out with the origin of doomsday coming from a bc space ship that lexcorp discovers while digging for new forms of power. once doomsday (who is never referred to as doomsday) is revealed, he goes on his killing rampage straight away. the fight scenes were amazing, it was great full page action just like in 75. the art wasnt as good, but i let that slide. superman and doomsday both die within the first 20 min. of the movie... the title may have been called superman's doomsday, or day of doom or something like that, cause the actual doomsday character wasnt in it very much... thats okay with me though. once the death and funeral stuff happens, lex clones supes from a drop of blood found at the fight scene and there is a triumphant "retrurn of superman." This is similar to the superboy leg of the four imposters in the comics. I think it was the most logical choice for continuity. I wont spoil everything, superman eventually comes back and there is another great fight between the real mullet sporting superman, and his confused clone. The movie is kind of a fight sandwhich, with some love stories as the meat and mayo. If you are a fan of S:TAS and the comics, i dont think that you will be dissapointed. The story is good enough on its own to get past the art if you are not a fan of the animated series. my FAVORITE part of the movie is when "superman" returns and is fighting toyman, and sure enough, a giant spider appears in the third act. some of you will not know what i am talking about (see youtube "kevin smith on superman") Its a slap in the face to john peters, who was going to remake the original superman with nick cage and tim burton.. kevin smith wrote a screen play and the producer john peters told him there had to be a giant spider in it... right after supes defeats the spider, there is a cameo of kevin smith and he calls the scene lame. it was very clever writing.

Fan or not, i think it is an entertaining movie... if youre not into the story, theres enough action to sustain you, and if you are, its a decent enough plot, and the writing is pretty great.

I was browsing ebay last night due to complete boredom, and thought it would be a good idea to do a relient k search. We are in Hollywood CA right now... We played an acoustic radio show yesterday, and were heading out in a bit to play a show with the goo goo dolls. weird, eh? its always strange to me when we get to play shows with bands that i have been a fan of for so long. I am pretty excited about this one.

Last night we all went over to Mel's diner on hollywood and highland. the have the worlds best chili, in my opinion. I always get way too much food there and feel awful about an hour afterwards. it was well worth the pain.

After mels, i got to see some of my buddies from the band over it. Ryan and Nick came and hung out... I think some of the guys went to sing karaoke but ethan and i just chilled at the hotel. i read some comics that i picked up from Meltdown comics on sunset blvd... i walked in and saw several 25 cent racks... oh yes.... thats four for a quarter. new titles too, boy was i in heaven.

Were about to head out to the show. til then,
